The fauna of Isla Plaza Sur!
Swallow Tail Gull: an endemic species of the Galapagos.
Marine Iguana: quite exceptional as far as iguanas go. It can swim. :)
Sea Lion and Baby
Land Iguana
Sally Lightfoot Crab: apparently, they have no predators on the Galapagos once they're fully grown. I can't understand why...they look tasty to me....
...and a pelican.
Your photos are amazing. And I also enjoyed the previous entry about what it's like to actually live there. I'm not sure I really knew people lived on the Galapagos, so it's interesting to hear about their lives. Is everyone there connected to the tourist industry, or is there a more normal town with groceries and banks and barber shops? Do they have to go to the mainland for anything?
ReplyDeletethank you! yeah, it seems like a really large percentage of people is connected to tourism, and sooo many people know english because of it. i didn't really walk through the "normal" town, but i did drive through it and it looked like they did have pretty much everything they needed. i don't know if they necessarily NEED to go to the mainland, but i think a lot of people go frequently (our tour guide said he used to go once a month).
ReplyDeleteWOW--you can click on the photos and make them SUPER LARGE!!!
